Academiac knows how hard it is to find tutoring jobs. Tutoring privately can sometimes be risky and unsafe. It can also be tiresome to handle all the admin and follow up with payment on your own. This is where we come in! We handle all the administration, payment follow ups and provide you with on-going support throughout your time with Academiac. You can take the time to focus on your learner without worrying about the little details.

Register on our website to create your profile. A verification email will be sent to your email address. Please make sure you check your junk folder and verify your email. You will then be able to create your profile on your dashboard. Once you completed your profile and submitted all relevant documents, you will be informed by our team once your profile is live.

Once you sign up on our website, your profile will be reviewed and approved. This will then go live on the website. Clients will be able to search for your profile and request your assistance. We will also send you requests for placements with details of the tutoring job. You will then be able to decide if you would like to accept the placement or not.

You can expect to earn anywhere between R150 - R200 per hour depending on experience

Tutors can tutor privately or for other tutor companies, but any client you meet through Academiac will remain as Academiac clients. Once you agree to the terms and conditions on sign up, you will be agreeing to Academiac’s policies.

You are expected to check the distance from your home to your client before accepting any placements. Travel up to 15km one way is included in your tutoring rate. If you require a travel allowance, please let the tutor support team know before you accept the placement.

You are more than welcome to decide how many hours you would like to tutor. We would recommend not taking on more than 3 clients per week to ensure balance betweem work, study and personal life.

Tutoring takes place at the client’s home. At times the client will request a public place such as a library or coffee shop and on rare occasions, tutoring may take place at your home. You are also welcome to tutor online and at times we do have workshops for certain Grades. 

• You can apply if you are either studying in University or any Higher Institute, have graduated or even taking a gap year or working full-time. 

• Matric results should be atleast 75% for the subjects you would like to tutor and depending on the Grade you will be tutoring

• We will consider lower marks depending on your current field of study at University or any other experience

• Own transport is not necessary but please ensure you check the distance of your placement before accepting (especially if using transport such as Uber)

• You will be requested to apply for a police clearance certificate

• Submit a short video of your example lesson

Payment for your lessons completed the previous month will be paid by the 10th of each following month. For example: lessons submitted from 1 to 31 October will be paid by the 10th November. You will only be paid if you have logged all your lessons on time.
